    Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation Adds Nine New Primary and Specialty Care Physicians in San Francisco

    San Francisco, CA, March 31, 2010 – Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation announced today the addition of nine new physicians to its San Francisco medical group. Internists J.R. Gatpolintan, M.D., Merik Gross, M.D., Daniel Hwang, M.D., Meenakshi Jain, M.D., and Jonathan Nordlicht, M.D. join Pediatrician Sarah Hemmer, M.D. to practice primary care. They join new specialty physicians Alison Reed, M.D., pediatric endocrinologist, Jill Salo, M.D., pediatric hematologist/oncologist, and Bruce Roberts, M.D., integrative medicine physician. The recent additions expand the foundation’s membership to more than 130 primary and specialty care providers in San Francisco.

    J.R. Gatpolintan, M.D. joins Sutter Street Internal Medicine at 1375 Sutter Street. He is board-certified in internal medicine and infectious disease. Dr. Gatpolintan received his medical degree from the University of the Philippines College of Medicine followed by an internship and residency at State University of New York (SUNY) at Brooklyn and a fellowship in infectious disease at UC Irvine Medical Center. His interests include primary/preventive care, HIV and hepatitis virus.

    Merik Gross, M.D. is a board-certified internist located at 1375 Sutter Street. Dr. Gross was most recently Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) Women’s Health Center, where her research included projects focused on family violence. She received her M.D. from University of Texas and completed her internship and residency at Brown University.

    Daniel Hwang, M.D. is a board-certified in internal medicine and nephrology. He joins our Sutter Street Internal Medicine office at 1375 Sutter Street. Dr. Hwang received his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency at Montefiore Medical Center in New York, followed by a fellowship in nephrology at UCSF. He is interested in diabetes, hypertension and cardiovascular disease as well as preventive care.

    Meenakshi Jain, M.D., a board-certified internist is located at 595 Buckingham Way. Dr. Jain received her medical degree and completed her internship at Sarojini Naidu Medical College in India. She completed her residency at San Joaquin General Hospital (affiliated with UC Davis School of Medicine). In addition, she completed a medicine/oncology research fellowship at Stanford University Medical Center. She is interested in preventive medicine, women’s health and adolescent care, and is fluent in Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu.

    Jonathan Nordlicht, M.D. is a board-certified internist who has been practicing medicine for more than 30 years. Dr. Nordlicht received his medical degree from New York Medical College and completed his internship and residency at California Pacific Medical Center. He is located at 1375 Sutter Street.

    Sarah Hemmer, M.D. is a board-certified pediatrician at our Bayview Child Health Center located at 1335 Evans Avenue. Dr. Hemmer received her M.D. from Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine and completed her internship and residency at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Her interests include Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), special education and children with special healthcare needs. Dr. Hemmer also speaks Spanish.

    Alison Reed, M.D., board-certified in pediatric endocrinology and pediatrics, joins the Foundation’s Division of Pediatric Endocrinology & Diabetes, based at 3700 California Street. Dr. Reed has served as clinical instructor of pediatrics at San Francisco General Hospital / UCSF Medical Center. She received her medical degree from University of Miami School of Medicine and internship and residency at UCSF Medical Center. Additionally, she completed a fellowship in pediatric endocrinology at UCSF Medical Center. Dr. Reed’s interests include obesity and Type 2 diabetes, endocrinology and clinical research.

    Jill Salo, M.D. is board-certified in pediatric hematology/oncology and pediatrics. She joined our Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology in January following a position as Associate Director, Therapeutic Advances in Childhood Leukemia at Miller Children’s Hospital in Long Beach, Calif. Dr. Salo received her medical degree from University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and completed her internship and residency at University of Texas-Houston. She completed a pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Dr. Salo’s interests include clinical research in pediatric hematology/oncology, pediatric leukemia and pediatric solid tumors. She practices at 3700 California Street, and at regional outreach sites.

    Bruce Roberts, M.D. is an integrative medicine physician who is board-certified in psychiatry and family practice. He received his M.D. from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and completed two residency programs in psychiatry and family practice at University of Arizona Medical Center in Tucson. Dr. Roberts is also certified by the Center for Mind-Body Medicine in Washington D.C. He is practicing at the Institute for Health & Healing’s San Francisco location at 2300 California Street and its Greenbrae location at 1350 South Eliseo Drive.
