Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation Adds Pediatric Gastroenterologist in San Francisco

San Francisco, December 14, 2010 -- Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation announced today that Eric Hassall, M.D., FACG, has joined its San Francisco medical group. Dr. Hassall is a pediatric gastroenterologist (digestive system/disorders). He joins the Foundation’s current membership of more than 130 primary and specialty care providers in San Francisco.
Dr. Hassall is board-certified in pediatrics and pediatric gastroenterology. He obtained his medical degree at the University of Cape Town, South Africa, and trained in general pediatrics in London, England, and at Seattle Children's Hospital, University of Washington. Dr. Hassall received his gastroenterology training at UCLA School of Medicine, Los Angeles. He established a new Division of Gastroenterology and GI Procedures Unit at BC Children's Hospital in Vancouver, Canada, where he was professor of pediatrics at the University of British Columbia.
Dr. Hassall has headed international clinical studies and national professional committees. He has also served on international scientific and advisory committees, clinical practice guidelines committees, and journal editorial boards. He serves as an advisor to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on pediatric drugs.
He has delivered more than 350 presentations worldwide and has more than 200 publications in the field.
Dr. Hassall’s special interests include gastroesophageal reflux, eosinophilic esophagitis, and esophageal disease in general; gastroduodenal diseases including peptic ulcer disease and celiac disease; abdominal pain; and safety and quality of endoscopy and GI procedures in children.
