Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation Adds New Primary Care and Pediatric Specialty Care Doctors in San Francisco

San Francisco, CA, October 25, 2010--Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation announced today the addition of five new primary and specialty care physicians to its San Francisco medical group. William Black, M.D., Ph.D., Marilyn Kutzscher, M.D., and Elizabeth Ziemann, M.D., are new primary care providers. Francesca Geertsma, M.D., offers specialty care in pediatric infectious diseases, while Brandy Lu, M.D. is a specialist in pediatric gastroenterology and hepatology. These physicians join the Foundation’s current membership of more than 130 primary and specialty care providers in San Francisco.
William Black, M.D., Ph.D., Associate Chief Medical Officer, is board-certified in internal medicine and holds a Medical Degree from Stanford University and a Ph.D. in microbiology from the University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill). Most recently, Dr. Black served as Division Head of the Palo Alto Foundation Medical Group, San Mateo County, where he oversaw a variety of functions, including clinical operations, enterprise integration, capital planning, and quality. Marilyn Kutzscher, M.D., is a board-certified internist located at 1375 Sutter Street. Dr. Kutzscher received her M.D. at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, DC, where she also finished the first two years of residency. She completed the third year of residency at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, also serving as chief resident. Dr. Kutzscher was in private practice from 1988 until starting with the Foundation in September. Her office can be reached at (415) 600-0140.
Elizabeth Ziemann, M.D., board-certified in family medicine, also joins the Foundation as a primary care provider. Dr. Ziemann holds an M.D. from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, where she also completed an internship and a family medicine residency. She is fluent in Spanish and also plays the cello in the San Francisco Civic Symphony. Dr. Ziemann’s office is currently located at 3620 Cesar Chavez Street and will be moving to 350 Rhode Island Street on November 1. She can be reached at (415) 826-7575.
Francesca Geertsma, M.D., is board-certified in pediatrics and pediatric infectious diseases. Dr. Geertsma received her M.D. at University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor, where she also undertook an internship and residency in pediatrics at University of Michigan Medical Center. She completed a fellowship in pediatric infectious diseases at UCSF Medical Center. For a decade Dr. Geertsma served as Medical Director of Infectious Diseases at Children’s Hospital Central California in Madera, California, also teaching at UCSF-Fresno Medical Education Program for much of that time. Brandy Lu, M.D., is board-certified in pediatric gastroenterology and pediatrics. She received her M.D. at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, followed by an internship and residency at The Children’s Hospital, University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine. Dr. Lu continued at The Children’s Hospital with a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition; she also completed a fellowship in pediatric liver and intestinal transplant at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, Stanford University. Dr. Lu is also a clinical instructor in pediatric gastroenterology and hepatology with a focus in pediatric liver transplantation at Stanford University.
