Our History

Overview

Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation is a not-for-profit organization that provides patient care through its affiliation with three medical groups. Our 230+ physicians offer, primary, specialty and complex medical care throughout San Francisco, Marin, Sonoma and Lake Counties, as well as at outreach clinics in Northern California and Nevada.

The medical groups that comprise Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation include:

• Marin Headlands Medical Group
• Physician Foundation Medical Associates
• Sutter Medical Group of the Redwoods

Our team of physicians, nurses, allied health professionals and non-clinical staff is dedicated to high quality, cost-effective patient care. We provide medical services at nearly 70 locations throughout Northern California and Nevada. Our primary practice sites are adjacent to the campuses of California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, Novato Community Hospital, Sutter Medical Center of Santa Rosa and Sutter Lakeside Hospital.

Brown & Toland Partnership

Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation doctors in San Francisco and Marin Counties are part of Brown & Toland Physicians, San Francisco’s largest independent practice association (IPA). This partnership enables Brown & Toland HMO patients to easily access Sutter Pacific's programs and services, offering more convenience for Brown & Toland HMO patients and physicians.

Sutter Health Affiliation

Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation is part of Sutter Health and its Sutter Medical Network, a network of more than 3,000 Northern California primary care and specialist physicians committed to providing patients with more convenient access to consistently high-quality health care services.

As part of this network, members of Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation commit to the rigorous process of working together to develop and follow clinical guidelines based on proven best medical practices, addressing nationally identified priorities for improving health care, seeking to improve affordability of health services and establishing standards for timely appointments and specialist referrals. All of these efforts ultimately benefit patients, their families and the employers who often help pay for health insurance.
