Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation Hosts Free Weight Loss Surgery Seminar on June 6th
Event Provides Answers and Community for Individuals Considering Weight Loss Surgery
San Francisco, June 2, 2011--Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation will host a weight loss surgery informational seminar and support group on June 6, 2011 in San Francisco. Held each month in San Francisco and Marin County, seminars are geared towards individuals contemplating bariatric surgery and those who have already completed surgery. The seminar will be held:

“Bariatric surgery is one of the most effective weight loss tools for individuals with a BMI greater than 30,” says Dr. Jossart, who also serves as director for California Pacific Medical Center’s minimally invasive surgery program. “Our support groups have been instrumental in helping individuals get the best results with weight loss surgery—and keep the weight off— by helping them start off with the most complete information available to choose the right procedure, and providing long-term support to help them maintain a healthy lifestyle.”
The first hour of the seminar is dedicated to discussion of topics including: candidacy for weight loss surgery, procedure benefits and potential risks, what to expect before and after surgery, and how to achieve—and maintain—a target weight. Dr. Jossart will also explain how bariatric surgery may be an effective tool for improving or resolving chronic medical conditions such as type 2 diabetes, sleep apnea, hypertension and high cholesterol. The second hour is dedicated to sharing experiences, challenges and successes following weight loss surgery.
